Congratulations to our November 2017 Athlete of the Month – Ashleigh Roscetti! Ashleigh has been at C3 for just under a year, getting her start with our ladie’s Six Week Challenge Group in January. Since beginning, Ashleigh has done nothing but push herself. It is not often we have members ask to ramp up the difficulty of the workouts we provide, but Ashleigh did from the start. This tells you what kind of mentality Ashleigh brings – she wants to get better, and she is not afraid to work for it. She can be found at C3 five or a six days a week, sometimes hours after her class finishes. She is a staple in the AM RowingWOD, and she just completed our 5 week Olympic Weightlifting Class. In October, she saw the fruits of her labor at the Festivus Games at CrossFit XLT, as her and Kristen Fernstaedt took third place in what was the first competition for both athletes!
Congratulations Ashleigh. Keep up the good work. We at C3 are excited to see where your hard work takes you!
1. In general, what is your background?
I live in Sherman and I am the oldest of 3. I have 2 younger brothers (Nick & Joe). I attended SHG & went on to play softball at Quincy University. There, I got my degree in Sports Management, and continued on to get my MBA from Benedictine University.
2.Age, Occupation?
I am 26 yrs old. I am manager/hitting instructor at The Hitting Center, and I also work as a teacher’s aide at St. John’s Lutheran Preschool. I’m currently looking for my big girl job so if anyone out there has any thoughts that, holler atcha girl.
3. How did you get to know about CrossFit and why did you start?
I knew of Crossfit long before I actually decided to step foot into an actual box. I was always interested in trying it but was super intimidated. I saw an ad on Facebook for the 6 week challenge and knew that was my opportunity to see what the hype was all about. I’m so glad that I did because I absolutely love it!
4. How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
Crossfit helped me find myself again. I have been an athlete my entire life , always working with a team and constantly being challenged. After I graduated from QU, I found myself just going through the motions. Knowing I had to work out because it was what I was supposed to be doing. Crossfit brought back my motivation to challenge and better myself everyday.
5. Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
I want to be able to ditch the bands and do a pull up.
6. Favorite CrossFit moment so far?
My favorite moment so far was getting over 300# on my deadlift. I also really enjoyed competing in the Festivus Games.
7. What is your least favorite WOD to date?
The first one that comes to mind would be the lunges with the 35# plate over head, an 800m run, and 50 burpees for time. Running and burpees are the worst.
8. What do you like most about Capital City CrossFit?
The people and the atmosphere. Everybody answers this question like that, but it’s true. Everyone is so genuine and kind! You all make me want to show up and get my ass kicked everyday.
9. Favorite movement?
Deadlift , rowing, wallballs
10. Least favorite movement?
Overhead squat & burpees in any form
