Congratulations to Andrea Winner, the C3 Athlete of the Month for January! Andrea started her CrossFit journey in February of ’17. Since joining Andrea has done nothing but work hard and get better. She is at the gym six days a week, religiously. She is a staple at the Noon class, however more often than not, you can find her at the gym in the afternoons working overtime to improve her fitness. This hard work is definitely starting to show.. Andrea continues to get stronger week by week, and she is starting to add the more advanced gymnastics movements to her repertoire. In fact just two weeks ago, Andrea got her first unassisted pull-up. She continued to do nineteen more pull-ups that afternoon! Congratulations Andrea. It is well deserved!
- I was born and raised in Springfield and graduated HS from Rochester. I eventually completed a graduate degree in psychology and have worked in social services most my life. I’ve transitioned from mental health, education, juvenile detention, and substance abuse. For the past 3+ years, I’ve worked in public service/social security disability. I come from a blended and extended family. I do not have children of my own but I have several little kiddos in my life that make my world. I absolutely love children!
- I am 36 yrs old (2 weeks from 37) and employed at the State of IL as a Disability Claims Adjudicator with the good old DDS (Disability Determination Services).
- I learned about CF from THE Hatch Matty & THE Morgan Manning. I considered giving CF a shot after many failed attempts at keeping a consistent gym routine. January 2017, I ran into Morgan on a Saturday night and during my rant about being so out of shape, she simply said come in for the next On Ramp Feb 7th. So, I showed up!
- CrossFit/C3 provides an environment and conditioning regimen that motivates, encourages, and challenges me to earn back some of the last 4-5 years of being lazy!! I no longer hurt/ache everyday in a “bad” way!!! I move better. I sleep better. I 100% feel better. I still take too many breaks during WODs, but my endurance and strength have improved tremendously over the last 10 months. A special thanks to BC for all his help with extra workouts! I appreciate your time & patience! I’ve added weight to all max out sessions, reduced rowing pace, and did unassisted pull-ups in the last 6 weeks.
- It’s hard to only choose one, so I’ll pick two. I want to do handstand push-ups and dubs in a workout!
- This is easy!!! When I did my first unassisted pull-up after ROWWOD on 12/21/17! Then, BC said “now do 19 more.” I didn’t think it was possible… but I did it. The last 5 were questionable, but I did it!
- I don’t really have a least favorite WOD. I struggle with Olympic lifting period… I might get frustrated or intimidated by Olympic lifts in WODs, but I enjoy the challenge and after it’s all over, I feel better regardless!
- The people, the coaches, and the environment! I am usually a slow to warm up kind of person. However, after a very short time at C3, I felt welcomed and so comfortable!!! The coaches are absolutely amazing! I also love the personal challenge every day!! I need pushed so C3 is a perfect match for me!
- Power cleans – I need to work on them, but I enjoy doing any kind of clean.
- Any kind of snatch!! 😉
